- WELCOME TO THE XTRAVAGANZA -

Thank you for downloading my pack! This is a collection of Xmod charts that I have made over the course of about 2 years. I had intended on making this much sooner but life and other projects got in the way. But now it's out, you can play it, and hopefully it will be the first of many packs in the Xtravaganza series. The intention was to make Xmod charts with the average player in mind, prioritizing sightreadability and fairness. If you're new to playing Xmod charts I hope this is a good way to get acquainted with things.

- DIFFICULTY RATING SYSTEM -

This pack takes inspiration from the game Arcaea's way of classifying difficulty. Easy/Medium/Hard/Expert would now be Past/Present/Future/Beyond, and the number rating corresponds to how Arcaea would rank those charts.

Past/Easy - 1-5 - Simple gimmicks and charting meant for complete beginners to Etterna.

Present/Medium - 4-8 - Something middle of the road for those getting familiar with gimmick gameplay.

Future/Hard - 7-11 - The default experience. Hard yet readable gimmicks paired with challenging charting.

Beyond/Expert - 9-13 - Boss charts that push the limits of what the average player is capable of.

You may notice there is some overlap between the numbers and their named difficulty rank. This is the same way as it is in Arcaea where charts have more wiggle room with their classification. A Present 8 may be easier than a Future 7 the same way a Beyond 10 is harder than a Future 11. Both the chart itself and its gimmicks are accounted for when determining the difficulty rating. While there are no Past and only 1 Present difficulty in this pack, future releases will have a wider variety of ratings.

No I will not be using Arcaea's Eternal or Inscribed difficulties for my rating system.

- SONG BLURBS -
(Do not read until after playing the charts!)

This is where I share thoughts, opinions, and fun facts on each song and their chart. I find this to be a good way to explain my thought process and further our parasocial relationship.

Pentiment (Future 9):
Where it all began. I started this chart back in late 2024 after I began learning the ropes of Xmod charting. My favourite section mirrors the gimmick in Arcaea where the notes are 'hidden' but still need to be hit. While it was good enough for me 2 years ago, nowadays I would have added a few more gimmicks to emphasize punchiness in certain areas.

Tailwind (Present 7):
The easiest song in the whole pack clocking in at a Present 7. It's a great chart for beginners to Xmod as it's not too hard to follow. Also I really adore sun dresses and the whole beachy vibe.

Beep Block Station (Future 8):
The entire chart was built around a single gimmick; swap the colour palate in time with the beeps. Whilst simple on the surface it entailed having to copy and paste sections of the chart hundreds of times over, making sure each one wasn't misaligned. The end result came out really great in my opinion. The mines being placed on the blue side despite them being usually red was done as an intentional design choice so they wouldn't blend into the background too much.

イガク (Future 8):
As a big Kasane Teto fan it was obligatory of me to put one of her songs into the pack. This one worked especially well because of how many gimmicks paired up nicely with the song. I'm not sure what the official term is for when the next section of notes get flung away from the receptors only to come back at you so I'll call it a 'toss'. The chart features many toss gimmicks, and a couple sections where the notes are 'scratched' like a record. Both are very cool visually.

K1LL SOMEBODY (Future 9):
This Femtanyl-inspired banger by Tanger wasn't my usual cup of tea but while listening I couldn't help but imagine how well a gimmick involving the scroll speed would go. While the chart itself is on the easy side, having to keep track of the timing of the notes while they're moving erratically elevates things in a fun way.

PURE MEMORY (Future 9):
A song called 'pure memory' without a single memory-based gimmick? Sacrilegious, I know. It's a cutesy song with a chart more on the difficult side while still being feasible for the average player. A lot of experimentation was done with warps and fakes for special effects like the numbers counting down or the dancing lines at 1:25.

RE;DIEIN (Future 10):
I don't usually scream when I listen to a song but this had me wailing like a Victorian child listening to EDM for the first time. Every second of this was an unpredictable, overstimulating nirvana of electronic bliss. I even debated not charting this song because that would make it lose its luster as I relisten to sections over and over. The drop may be controversial with its sudden introduction of minedodge and quads but I couldn't think of anything more fitting. The actual spelling of the song has a semicolon in the title but that character isn't supported for some reason so in-game it's "RE-DIEIN".

Lament Rain (Future 10):
Intense charting, intense gimmicks, what's not to love? This is one of my favourites as I really tried to do its Arcaea counterpart justice by matching a lot of the general design choices even down to some gimmicks. Special liberties were taken like with the doubles around the 1:27 mark, a timing gimmick I really enjoy.

Designant (Future 11):
While the first half of the song is fairly doable for the average player, its the middle section that is the make-or-break moment. The way the BPM practically halves and slowly increases with each measure, with the fakes being thrown in halfway through the section in time with the beeps, it really feels like you're fighting against the song itself. The drop soon after gives no mercy either, solidifying this as a Future 11 and the hardest song in the pack (maybe).

CHUTEN (Beyond 10):
T+pazolite never fails to fry my brain in new and interesting ways. A song as chaotic as this one deserved to have a chart that matches that vibe, always in your face with changing scroll speeds and notes moving unorthodoxically. Because of its difficulty I have made this a Beyond 10, the boss song of this pack (maybe?).

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (Beyond 11):
What secret song? There is no secret song. But if there was one I'm sure it would be very cool.

- Closing -

I intend to keep making Xmod packs, likely with less songs but more effort put into the chart. Fancier gimmicks, more difficulties, anything I can do to keep one-upping my previous works. Thank you for your patience and I hope to see you again in the next Xtravaganza.
